The New Jersey Business Action Center (NJBAC) is an agency within the New Jersey Department of State. Its mission is to help all size and type of businesses get answers to pressing government questions, solve challenging bureaucratic mazes, handle permitting & licensing questions, and analyze state regulations, etc.
Municipal construction code officials are on the front line, working with businesses daily. The NJBAC can be the business resource to handle any business questions on state government issues. We have our Business Helpline, 1-800-JERSEY-7 that you can refer businesses to. It receives more than 25,000 calls a year and is answered by experienced people who work to get answers to business questions within 24 hours or less. Or you can call the Business Helpline, to get answers to your questions about working with businesses.
We have a host of online offerings including a podcast series, webinars and brochures that detail the work we do. Our site features two searchable online guides designed to help your member businesses understand the state regulations that affect them.
We’ve used our expertise to create the easy-to-navigate Business Assistance Guide and Guide to Doing Business in New Jersey. These guides can be shared with businesses who come into your offices looking for assistance, and placed on your website as a resource.
The Business Assistance Guide details the many government financial assistance and other programs available to help businesses whether they are just starting or looking to expand. The guide focuses on a variety of industries, including the technology sector, and addresses everything from job retention incentives to tax credits.
The Guide to Doing Business in New Jersey offers step-by-step information for businesses, highlighting everything from developing a business plan and obtaining the required licenses to franchising and procurement issues.
